Praying For Fate, Chapter 6 Part 1

Su YuanHeng’s life became very routine. After breakfast every morning, he would turn on his computer to compile data and write his essays. He would then take a nap after lunch. In the afternoon, he’d wash his clothes and tidy up the garden. Or, he would go to the supermarket to buy things then continue to work when he returns.

After dinner, he would go out for a walk and chat with his neighbors. Then, he’d come back to shower, watch some TV and go to sleep at around ten o’clock.

He tried hard to make his life full of enrichment so that he won’t have the time or energy to repeatedly remember the scene from that afternoon in Long Island.

That memory was not good for his body. Every time that his mind turned slightly to it, he would feel aching pain in his heart.

Recently his body would get exhausted very easily. Often times, he would fall asleep while watching TV. He knew that it is one of the effects from the pregnancy and can’t think too much of it. .

But because he can’t go to the hospital to get a checkup and not knowing when he could return home in this physical condition, he has always felt uneasy with his unborn child growing day by day.

He can only call Qiu ZhiYuan regularly to talk about his condition and buy some simple basic medical equipment to continuously check his body all the times.

Just like this, a month passed by quickly.

Su YuanHeng felt that his condition had stabilized and began to consider returning home. Although Qiu ZhiYuan did not advise him to do so but to have him stay in America is also not a solution.

Would he have to give birth here?

[Some time later]

Su YuanHeng is facing a dilemma. But he didn’t expect that the person he had feared thinking about deeply in his heart, actually fell from the sky and appeared suddenly in front of him.

That day, he had just returned from his usual walk and had not even gotten to the front door of his home when he saw a reckless Ferrari driving at expeditious speeds hit the emergency brake right next to him. The tires squeaked and a shadow from the driver seat got out.

Everything happened very quickly. Before Su YuanHeng regained his senses, BeiTang MinQian had already stood in front of him.

“You ……” Su YuanHeng looked at him in daze.

BeiTang MinQian looked at him and seemed to be relieved but also a bit angry. Raising his eyebrows, “You’re really here!”

Su YuanHeng retreated two steps, “You ….  why are you here?”

BeiTang MinQian creased his brows as he strode forward, “Why are you backing up?”

Su YuanHeng didn’t want him to see his swollen belly so he subconsciously backed up. Seeing him coming forward, he helplessly uttered, “You suddenly show up. I’m shocked.”

“I’m the one that is shocked. It was really not easy for me to return to China, only to find the person gone and the house vacant. Why did you leave without saying anything? Are you addicted to playing these disappearing acts?” BeiTang MinQian lowly roared.

Su YuanHeng stared blankly and remained silent.

“Why are you not saying anything? When did you come to America? How come you didn’t contact me for such a long time? You made me go back and forth between the countries like a fool!”

Su YuanHeng suddenly walked passed him toward the house.

“You actually ignored me?” BeiTang MinQian glared at him, so angry that he grabbed him from behind, “Stop!”

“Let go!” Su YuanHeng forcefully broke free and ran into the house.

BeiTang MinQian looked at his own hands that were flung away; he was stunned for a moment and then quickly followed. Su YuanHeng ran very fast. He quickly opened the door, bolted in and was about to close the door.

BeiTang MinQian caught up in time and stuck out his foot to jam the door, preventing it from closing.

“Fuck off!” Su YuanHeng shouted loudly at him.

These words made BeiTang MinQian unbearably enraged. He erupted as he forcefully shoved the door.

Bam! Su YuanHeng was pushed away by him. His back heavily slammed onto the wall.

BeiTang MinQian suddenly dashed into the house, vigorously slamming the door and shouted, “It was not easy for me to find this place and you treat me like this? What the hell is wrong with you? You ran away from home and didn’t even say a word to me!”

Su YuanHeng didn’t say anything. He lowered his head, with one hand gripping his belly the other supported with the wall behind him.

BeiTang MinQian repeatedly asked, “I’m asking you how come you came to America but didn’t tell me? This is so close to New York, why didn’t you come find me?”

After a long while, Su YuanHeng finally responded lowly: “… Tell you? How to tell you …” I went to find you, but you …

He could not say the words after that. He turned his head and didn’t look at him.

BeiTang MinQian only now realized that his complexion looked ill. He was leaning against the wall the entire time; his body seemingly weak. He (BeiTang MinQian) couldn’t help but reach his hand out and say in a softer tone “Hey, are you okay? Did I push too hard earlier?”

Su YuanHeng evaded his hand and walked slowly to the hall while leaning on the wall for support.

BeiTang MinQian looked at his rear view and faintly felt that he seemed a bit different.

“… How did you find this place?” Su YuanHeng slowly sat down on the couch, pulling his sweater to loosen it in an attempt to conceal his already swollen belly.

BeiTang MinQian patiently responded, “I returned to China half a month ago and found that you weren’t there. So I asked around and heard that you almost resigned. Director Wang gave me this address and told me that you had returned to America.”

The BeiTang family is the hospital’s largest shareholder. To get his information from the Director is very easy.

Su YuanHeng didn’t say anything.

BeiTang MinQian came toward and looked at him domineeringly, “I am not here to quarrel with you. Let’s have a chat.”

“What is there to chat about?” Su YuanHeng’s voice was a bit weak, yet indifferently asked.

BeiTang MinQian faintly creased his brows and leaned down to stare at him, “Where did you go that time? When did you come home? Why did you need to resign and come to America?”

“… Then what about you? Where have you been these months? What have you been doing?” Su YuanHeng finally looked up to ask him.

BeiTang MinQian looked a bit irritated. Straightening his back, “I was initially going to find you but something suddenly came up so I came back here.”

He said it so casually making Su YuanHeng feel extremely disappointed.

“Why are you not talking again? YuanHeng. You haven’t answered my questions yet.”

Su YuanHeng faintly responded, “There is no why. I just wanted to come back so I came back.”

“You didn’t come here to find me?”

Su YuanHeng suddenly smiled, “Why would I come look for you? When you came back, did you tell me?”

“YuanHeng, I don’t like this attitude of yours,” BeiTang MinQian’s voice is a bit cold, “Do you think that I didn’t want to tell you at the time? But where were you? You ran away from home in the middle of the night. Your phone was turned off and your whereabouts unknown. Do I tell it to the open air?”

Su YuanHeng unconsciously touched his belly. His belly felt a slight pain from the impact earlier and he was worried that it might have hurt the child. With no energy to continue on scuffling with him, he tiredly said, “I don’t want to say anymore to you right now. Please leave. I need to rest.”

BeiTang MinQian raised his eyebrows, “You’re kicking me out?”

“It’s up to you on how you perceive this. This is not our home in A city, please respect me.”

BeiTang MinQian was stunned as he stood there woodenly.

Su YuanHeng held onto the couch and slowly stood, then gradually walked toward the stairs.

BeiTang MinQian looked at his back and suddenly uttered, “You don’t want to know why I came to find you? FeiLi.”

Hearing that unfamiliar yet familiar name, Su YuanHeng’s entire body stiffened. He held onto the stairs’ handrail and slowly turned around.

“You….”

BeiTang MinQian was frightened by the frail complexion on his face, “YuanHeng, what is wrong with you?”

“You … what did you call me?”

“Oh, YuanHeng? Or is it …… FeiLi?”

Su YuanHeng only felt darkness consuming him, his head spinning and he slowly fainted.

BeiTang MinQian was so shocked. He quickly rushed over to carry him up horizontally (bridal-style) and put him in the living room’s couch.

In fact, Su YuanHeng did not faint. He just felt momentarily dizzy and weak, putting him in a trance for a while. He quickly awakened and sees BeiTang MinQian worriedly looking at him.

Seeing his worried expression, Su YuanHeng’s heart felt warmly touched.

Regardless, he still loves him. It was as if they were fated from their previous lifetimes.

In this life, perhaps he can never escape the feelings he has for this person.

“YuanHeng, what is wrong? Where are you not feeling well? Need to see a doctor?”

BeiTang MinQian didn’t think that Su YuanHeng’s health could be so poor that he even fainted. It scared him out of his wits, not knowing what to do.

“No need, my sugar levels (glycopenia) is just a bit low.”

“Low blood sugar? I’ve never heard you mentioned this before.”

BeiTang MinQian reached his hand out to feel Su YuanHeng’s forehead. He worriedly leaned closer and whispered, “What is actually happening? Do you really have some kind of illness? You come back to America to see a doctor? How did you live these last few months?”

The intensive confrontation from earlier have all but disappeared.

Su YuanHeng seeing his concerned expression and hearing his concerned tone, his heart warmed up, “It’s really nothing. I don’t have any illness. Don’t worry.”

BeiTang MinQian frowned and wanted to say more but Su YuanHeng interrupted, “What did you call me earlier? What do you really know?”

BeiTang MinQian looked at him deeply and says slowly, “So that is really your name, right? That was what you were called before you were ten, right?”

Su YuanHeng is still a little weak. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling, not knowing what to think.

After a long while, he sighed lowly, “Yes. Before I was adopted, my name was Yan FeiLi.”
“Yan FeiLi…  …FeiLi… …” BeiTang MinQian mumbled twice.

From the very first time he heard this name, he felt that it was extremely familiar. It seems that in a very very distant past, he has said this name thousands of times with his lips and within his heartT/N.

T/N – This novel is the modern version of the ancient Chinese BL novel, 斷情結 (Severing the Complex Love), written by the same author. In this story, the seme’s name was BeiTang Ao (modern version BeiTang MinQian) and the uke’s name is Yan FeiLi (Su YuanHeng). In the ancient version, he (BeiTang Ao/MinQian) has called his lover (Yan FeiLi) by this name many many times. That’s why in this modern version, he has that thought.

“Then you know that person, Yan YuHeng?”

Su YuanHeng’s heart jumped. Supporting himself on the couch, he sat halfway up and says slowly, “Yeah, he is my father. When I was four years old, he left me at the orphanage’s front door and never came back … Tell me, what do you know?”
He didn’t think that BeiTang MinQian would be so calm after knowing about his background.

BeiTang MinQian sat down on the couch and looked at Su YuanHeng, “You’re not surprised on why I suddenly returned to America? You don’t want to know what I’ve been doing these last few months?”

Su YuanHeng looked down at his belly; his big hand gently massaging it, not saying anything.

BeiTang MinQian didn’t notice his movements. He just didn’t like that Su YuanHeng was evading his gaze.

“I said that I had initially wanted to find you. That wasn’t a lie. I thought that there were only two places you could go. One is your home in America. The other is the orphanage where you were once raised. You didn’t bring your passport so I thought that was where you went. I found the address and was going to go find you. But who knew that something would suddenly came up and I was called back to America.”

BeiTang MinQian paused and continued, “Matters kept delaying me in America so I can’t go back to China. I was very worried about you. Up until a month ago, I accidentally found out something regarding you so I quickly rushed back to China. But I can’t find you anywhere. After going around in a circle, I come to find that you are actually in America.”

Su YuanHeng, “What do you actually know? Is it about my… … father? How is he? What do you know? Hurry up and tell me!”

BeiTang MinQian sighed, “Now you know to be anxious. When my eldest sister asked you back then, why didn’t you admit it?”

“MinQian!” Su YuanHeng is very anxious.

He has a bad premonition. For BeiTang MinQian to ditch his family in America and his fiancée to rush back to China to find him, it must be very important. This matter is about his father …
