After eating, GuQingPei didn’t want to stay any longer.

He was not supposed to be in YuanYang’s home. Base on their past relationship, this is definitely not appropriate.

YuanYang did not attempt to make him stay but he firmly persisted on taking him back.

GuQingPei continued to insist, “I can just go downstairs to fetch a taxi.”

“I’m the one that took you out, so I most certainly will take you back.”

“No need to, it’s easy to get a taxi at this time.

YuanYang crossed his arms on his chest and stared at him for a moment, “Are you afraid that I would know where you live?”

GuQingPei glared at him. In fact, this was exactly what was on his mind. But with YuanYang’s baffling actions, it’s better that he doesn’t know.

YuanYang humphed, “If I wanted to know, you think you can prevent me?”

GuQingPei finally relented and let YuanYang follow him down the stairs.

After the car got on the main road, GuQingPei directed, “Make a U-Turn ahead and get on East Third Ring Road.”

YuanYang lazily responded, “I said, if I wanted to know, you can’t prevent me.”

GuQingPei attentively sensed the underlying meaning behind this statement. Could it be that YuanYang really knows where he lives?

After a few minutes, GuQingPei got his answer. YuanYang really do know where he lives. He didn’t need him to point out the directions. GuQingPei’s chest felt a bit constricted. He really wanted to ask YuanYang what all these baffling actions mean? Having a girlfriend on a side, criticized his age, but then turned around and cooked a meal for him and even knowing where he lives.

He even began to wonder if YuanYang was trying to mess with him.

GuQingPei said gloomily, “YuanYang, I’m extremely busy right now, I don’t have time to be playing games with you. What the hell is it that you want from me? Just say it directly.”

YuanYang was fully concentrated in looking ahead as he blatantly replied, “Very simple. Director Gu’s delectable body have always left me with an aftertaste, longing for more. Since you have needs, I also have my needs, we can get together to satisfy those needs sometimes?”

GuQingPei mocked, “A girlfriend can’t satisfy you?”

The car stopped at a red light. GuQingPei was enraged to point of getting a migraine. Looking at YuanYang’s arrogance expression, he suddenly realized that YuanYang is doing this intentionally. It seems that YuanYang wanted to see him flustered and embarrassed. The angrier he is, the happier YuanYang is.

YuanYang’s hands tightly gripped the steering wheel. He didn’t speak but smiled exposing his white teeth, like a hunter who is about to enjoy his gourmet food.

GuQingPei turned his head to the side, his heart silently cursing YuanYang. After two years, YuanYang had become strong on the outside, but more of a ‘good for nothing’ on the inside. Not only that, he also harbored some kind of hostility toward him. Every one of his words toward him are cuttingly harsh.

On what does YuanYang have the right to do this? Based on what?

Once the car arrived at his home, GuQingPei opened the door and left without saying a word.

YuanYang stared at his back silhouette until he disappeared through the door. He stared at the door for a long time, until his cell phone rang.

“Hey, PengFang.”

“YuanYang, what are you up to? Come out and have a drink.”

“Too lazy to go out.” YuanYang leaned back on his seat and closed his eyes. His mind is full of GuQingPei’s humiliated and angry expression. Using that expression to eat a meal, it really can be most appetizing.

“What’s wrong, acting as if you’re very old. Ever since GuQingPei returned from Singapore, you haven’t come out to hang out with us. What the hell’s going on?”

“What the hell are you saying?”

PengFang sighed, “Listen to me brother. A person can’t be so hardheaded. With you like this, you won’t turn back if you don’t hit the wall^(T/N).”

TN – 不撞南牆不回頭 means to stubbornly insisting on one’s own ideas.

YuanYang said lightly, “I’m already on this wall and can’t turn back.”

“I don’t fucking understand what you’re trying to do right now. If you want to get him back, you should soften your attitude. You shouldn’t go about it with such hostility.”

“You think that as long as I give in, he will be touched??” YuanYang laughed sarcastically, “You’ve underestimated GuQingPei. His heart is harder than anyone else.”

“Then, what do you want to do?”

YuanYang glanced down at the car seat that GuQingPei had just vacated, his fingers gently picked up a short hair from the seat, softly muttering, “I want him to … to not be able to leave me.”

So YuanYang cannot tolerate him?

GuQingPei smiled mockingly. As one of the biggest tainted stains of YuanYang’s past, he really should be erased.

He rested on the couch for a while and was planning to take a shower when the phone suddenly rang. After connecting the phone, there came a familiar yet unfamiliar voice.

“Director Gu, how are you?”

GuQingPei was stunned. The unexpected sound from the other line is a voice that he had not heard for more than two years, YuanLiJiang. He paused for a few seconds and said, “Chairman Yuan.”

“Not bad, you still remember my voice.”

GuQingPei sat back on the couch again, “My memory had been declining in the past two years but Chairman Yuan’s voice, I still have not forgotten.”

“I heard that you are back in Beijing. Time really flies.”

“Chairman Yuan calling me is not to be nostalgic, right?” On the surface, GuQingPei appears to be courteous toward YuanLiJiang. Two years have passed since the incident, but whenever he thought of the shameful humiliation that YuanLiJiang gave him, he still can’t completely forget.

“I just want to ask you a few things.”

“Yes, I have seen YuanYang.”

“You know what I wanted to ask?”

“Besides YuanYang, what else is there?”

YuanLiJiang laughed twice, “That’s right. You haven’t been back for too long, I don’t know much you know about YuanYang.”

“Very limited. He and I have already ended two years ago. Now there is no need for us to find out about each other again. Chairman Yuan’s mind can be rest assured. YuanYang has already taken the right path. I am not a person with nothing better to do, you certainly don’t have anything to worry about.”

“Is it?” YuanLiJiang sighed softly, “But my son hasn’t stepped into the house for more than two years. You say…should I worry or not?”

GuQingPei replied, “You can be rest assured that YuanYang will eventually take his girlfriend home to meet his parents. It is really just a matter of time.”

YuanLiJiang was silent for a few seconds before he said, “Two years ago, he said that unless he can take you home, otherwise, he won’t come home.”

GuQingPei’s heart ached for a moment, he gripped his pants tightly and then slowly released, only to respond with, “These are just words that were spoken without thinking two years ago, people will change.”

“He indeed changed a lot. I’m somewhat unfamiliar with him.”

GuQingPei had no intentions to join YuanLiJiang in feeling sorrow for failing to educate his son. What the hell does this have to do with him?

He said bluntly, “With a distinguished father like you, your son is sure to do well. Seeing YuanYang today, Chairman Yuan should be happy. I only know that I have done what Chairman Yuan have asked of me. As for anything else, there is nothing more I can do.”

YuanLiJiang can sense GuQingPei’s impatience in his tone and laughed twice, “I don’t know if I should hate you or thank you.”

GuQingPei did not respond. He did not care.

After the end of the call, GuQingPei once again felt exhaustion invading his entire body. His mind completely blank, not wanting to lift his arms and legs, he just wanted to collapse on the couch and not move.

Having thought carefully, in the past two years he had only been fully focused on making money; restlessly working. In the end, besides having a wallet that is a little thicker, nothing seems to have changed.

There is still no hot meal waiting for him when he comes home… no intimate partner. Besides his work, there is no other purpose in his life. YuanYang already have a reputable girlfriend. Yet, he is still baffling over YuanYang’s sexually tantalizing tease of him… and that kiss. This can only mean that he is too lonely, right?

He should find a partner. He really should find a partner.

The next morning, GuQingPei got himself ready for work. Grabbing his laptop bag, he walked down the stairs. He had just gotten to the doorway to the exit of his building before he stopped.

YuanYang, dressed in an iron-grey suit, was leaning on his business vehicle, looking into the distance without a goal, his mouth slowly blowing rings of smoke.

Time seems to have gone back to two years ago. There was once, for a long period of time, when YuanYang would be waiting for him downstairs for however long it might be before he came down. Despite how cold it was, he never sat in the car. When GuQingPei came downstairs, his first line of sight is always seeing YuanYang waiting for him.

Waiting for him every day.

GuQingPei’s eyes became a bit swollen. All these scenes from their past memories flooded his mind. So overwhelming that facing this scenario again, his first reaction was to turn and leave.

Unfortunately before he even moved his legs, YuanYang had already noticed him. YuanYang extinguished his cigarette and raised his chin “Get in the car.”

“What are you doing here?”

Didn’t I already told you yesterday?”

“What?”

“You left in my car yesterday, so I will take to you to work this morning.”

GuQingPei wanted to tell him that there is no need, but since the person is already in front of him, he got into the car with indescribable feelings.

The two men sat in silence for ten minutes. GuQingPei suddenly asked, “When you came to pick me up in the past, what time did you get here?”

YuanYang was shocked. He did not expect that GuQingPei would ask this question. He thought for a moment before responding, “Around seven o’clock.”

GuQingPei remembered that when he went to work back then, he would come downstairs at 7:30am. So YuanYang had been waiting for him for at least half an hour every day?

“Why so early?”

“I have a strong concept of time and can’t tolerate being late.”

“Can’t tolerate being late? When you first started, weren’t you always late?”

“Bullshit, that was intentional.”

GuQingPei faintly smiled, “Oh yeah, you were deliberately trying to defy me.”

He had almost forgotten that his relationship with YuanYang were once tumultuous. Unfortunately, in the end, this tumultuous method of getting along was better than stabbing each other.

GuQingPei’s heart is starting to feel painful again.

It was really not easy to finally be able to get away from this suffocating atmosphere. Arriving at the destination, GuQingPei practically bolted into the company.

Being depressed and frustrated so early in the morning, he thought that the beginning of the day was bad enough. But he did not expect that getting news from his chief financial controller made him even more troubled.

Their mortgage loans are not progressing well. They are currently being stalled by a newly appointed vice governor. The original plan was to receive the money this month, but now that seems completely hopeless.

If the funds are not accounted for in their books this month, their projects will be seriously impacted and the consequences will be inconceivable.

GuQingPei ate the breakfast that his secretary packed for him and went with his Chief Financial Officer to Bank X to try and resolve this situation.
